Theft and Sabotage Reduction Projects

Theft and Sabotage Reduction Projects

Dealing with people, environment and company’s control system in order to develop company’s operating principles and corporate culture that exclude theft and sabotage.

The project means the implementation of a range of actions resulting in the efficient process which reduces to a minimum the risks of theft and sabotage in the company. In the majority of cases such projects are initiated following our analysis of the level and causes for theft and sabotage.

The economic effect from implementation of comprehensive anti-theft system can be measured.

FSA carries out projects in the following fields:

1. Projects focused on people-related risks identification

According to statistics, 10% of people have inclination to theft and sabotage and another 10% never steal. As for the remaining 80%, everything depends on the specific situation and the environment in the company, where these people work.

We may single out up to fifteen personal characteristics the existence and combinations of which will most likely show to which psychological type a person belongs, and what can be expected from him/her.

The task is to identify this “negative” 10% and to avoid hiring such employees into your company. As for the remaining 80%, we analyze strengths and weaknesses and give recommendations with respect to optimal management of each specific employee.

Tools:

  • assessment of current and potential employees’ inclination to theft and sabotage using proprietary testing methodology;
  • polygraph examination and non-test-related study methods.

2. Corporate environment improvement projects

Environment means factors that form psychological climate in the team, that determine the company’s work processes: on one hand, these are factors promoting loyalty enhancement, and hence, the willingness of employees to work for the company; on the other hand, there are factors that reduce the loyalty level, and as a consequence, give rise to sabotage and thefts.

These factors either give rise to energy, emotional support and strength to employees or deprive employees of the same. They include:

  • discrepancy between declared and unspoken rules of the corporate culture;
  • level of equity of employee incentive and remuneration payment program;
  • unbiased attitude to employees, the fact that senior managers do not have any favorites, respect for and care about all employees;
  • transparency of allocation of responsibility levels;
  • simple and at the same time sufficient workplace rules and policies;

The task is to create favorable climate in the company that makes theft and sabotage impossible.

Examples of projects:

  • implementation of recommendations to increase the level of corporate culture
  • implementation of recommendations to increase the level of personnel loyalty:
    • enhancing employee incentive program equity;
    • enhancing transparency of employee interaction rules;
    • increasing the level of employees’ responsibility and staffing structure transparency.
  • Projects related to enhancement of transparency of the governing bodies’ order execution regulations.

3. Management control and transparency systems implementation projects

Identification of certain aspects of the company’s business that compel employees to work in compliance with the rules. Creation of personnel control system; creation of environment that encourages voluntary acceptance of the company’s rules and regulations by employees.

Existence of efficiently organized accounting and control functions significantly discourage thefts and sabotage. Control systems may include:

  • necessary and sufficient level of management accounting and reporting transparency;
  • transparent management order execution control system;
  • presence of necessary and sufficient level of key business processes control (which includes development of a control system, which would fully cover all processes and activities in the company).

The task is to create such conditions for the company’s operation that discourage or prevent theft and sabotage.

Examples of projects:

  • implementation of decision support system and management order execution control system (on the basis of 1С: Document Management 8 software);
  • monitoring of situational inclination of personnel to theft and sabotage by implementation of automated situational theft and sabotage risks control and prevention system (on the basis of 1С: Payroll and HR Management 8 software);
  • implementation of automated management accounting and reporting systems;
  • implementation of automated key business-process control systems;
  • implementation of integrated mala fide management counteraction system (Big Brother).
