Investigation of Theft Cases and Causes at the Chemical Plant

The Company’s profile: chemical plant, over 4,500 employees. 

The Major Challenge the Business Faces:

High level of theft at the company. 

Tasks:

  1. To identify who, where, how much and in what way steals;
  2. To identify causes for theft in each case revealed;
  3. To determine ways of gradual remediation of the situation. 

Work Carried out by AFB: 

  1. Audit of key financial accounts of the plant;
  2. Search for deviations in management accounts and reports data;
  3. Carrying out a set of covert activities, including employment of agents with the plant for a certain period of time in order to clarify the internal environment in the company;
  4. Engaging experts in this particular chemical sector to find out intentionally imperfect production processes;
  5. Preparing hypotheses regarding fraudulent schemes;
  6. Hypothesis check;
  7. Preparing recommendations to remedy the situation.

The Result:

  1. Dozens of cases of bad faith management and continuous theft schemes have been revealed;
  2. Company’s key managers profiles have been drawn up;
  3. Recommendations on gradual remediation of the situation have been prepared.

As result of the project implemented, the owner has been provided with the clear picture on schemes and causes for theft at the company, which allowed to draw up a further action plan to gradually shift balances of power and to change processes in the company.
